Will FirstSteps participate in my child's IEP?
Yes, we are happy to be a member of our children’s IEP teams. The extent of FirstSteps involvement in your child’s IEP may depend on whether we are contracted to provide school-related services. For those students for whom we are providing educational support, participation includes providing oral and written reviews of progress, including the student’s strengths and weaknesses, progress on goals, and methods used for achieving these goals. In addition, based on observed progress, observed deficits, and other assessments (such as developmental assessments, adaptive assessments, standardized testing, etc.), FirstSteps Program Directors develop and present proposed IEP goals within our scope of practice, as well as recommendations for intervention. Your Program Director can answer specific questions regarding FirstSteps' role in your child's IEP.
