It is with great excitement that we announce Courtney Tarbox, M.S., BCBA as Chief Clinical Officer for FirstSteps for Kids, Inc.
Courtney joined our FirstSteps team nearly 18 years ago. Throughout her tenure, she has worked with hundreds of children and families and has trained, mentored, and truly supported an even larger group of FirstSteps RBTs and BCBAs. Most recently, Courtney served as Director of Clinical Excellence and Development at FirstSteps and co-created our comprehensive training and supervision program for our staff pursuing the BCBA credential.
Courtney is known for her big heart and tremendous clinical skill. She cares deeply about the children and families in our care and those supported by our ABA colleagues worldwide. She is steadfastly committed to fostering ongoing discussion and collaboration with the Autistic community and has developed protocols at FirstSteps that ensure our clients’ voices are heard, appreciated, and part of every treatment plan. Courtney is also passionate about contributing to research that is informed by real-life practice; she is actively engaged in treatment evaluation research on topics including complex skill acquisition, compassion-centered ABA treatment, and the infusion of acceptance and commitment training (ACT) within ABA programs for children with autism and their caregivers. Courtney enjoys regularly presenting at professional conferences and has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as co-authoring a book for training Registered Behavior Technicians.
On behalf of our entire FirstSteps team, we are delighted and honored to have Courtney’s leadership, expertise, and genuine care guiding our clinical team.
Exciting times ahead!
